There was a ball Friday night and my mother rounded up a load of friends to go with her and pap. Most of them live on our street but some don't and the ones who don't, stayed at our house. That's Aunty Sarah and Uncle Will, Jo and Andy and Aunty Sue. Aunty Sarah and Uncle Will brought my cousins, Eleanor and Charlotte, with them and I babysat them and my brother (Dan). That was fun. Hm.
Mum told me to get tea ready for us four for half 6 'because that's when they'll get here'. So they got here at about 6.45 by which time I had turned to oven off so I wouldn't burn the pizza. When they got here I gave everyone a chance to say hi etc before I put the oven back on to reheat the pizza and then I figured 5 mins would do it. So I forgot about it and burnt it. Ah well, it was still edible. Mostly. Just before we started eating all 'them lot' went out down to 'Ye Olde Bell' (where the ball was) so from then on... I was on my own...
Did I mention that Charlotte is 6, Eleanor is 8 and Dan is 11? Ah good, I didn't think so. So yeah, they're old enough to be clever enough and young enough to be annoying enough. Fun(!) Nah I love them really.
So... yes. We got through tea. As we were finishing my friend Hannah came round because we were gona play at dying her hair at some point. So I got Dan to clear the table and me and Hannah went upstairs.
5 mins later...
'Rose!' (That's Dan)
'What?'
'I dropped my bottle and it smashed.'
'Ah. Um... Well don't let anyone outside' (we ate outside) 'and I'll be there in a minute to sort it out...'
So I sorted out Hannah to a point where I could leave her for a bit and I went downstairs to sort out the glass. He made quite a good job of it. I swept up what I could and banned them from that part of the garden. They carried on playing and I went back to Hannah.
5 mins later...
Arrrgh!!! They need to get ready for bed (I'll point out now that we were gona sleep in a tent).
'Hannah, can you manage for a little bit??'
'Yeah, sure.'
Run downstairs... locate little people, tell them to get ready for bed, tell them again to get ready for bed, 'Daniel if you don't turn that computer off I'll take away the power lead' (a better threat than it sounds, the battery's dead on this silly machine), you know, that kinda thing. Then I had to organise the tent because she wants to go there and she wants to be next to Dan and I have to be in the middle because 'then we both get to go next to you', oh wow thanks. Ahem... Note enthusiasm, I thought I'd point it out because it's not all that easy to see...
Anyway... back to Hannah.
Who is doing really well considering. I helped her for a bit then went back down to put everyone back in the tent. Oh wait.. hang on... oh gods, they've not cleaned their teeth... Ok, everyone back upstairs. Clean teeth, wash faces, go back into the tent. It's about 10.00 by now by the way.
Back to Hannah. Again. Who has nearly finished. I have helped her a bit. Just perhaps not as well as I could have... I managed to stay until she was finished this time then she had to go home. I let her out then went back up to sort out my bathroom. My shower had quite a lot of hair dye in it... As I was cleaning it I heard little feet come upstairs. Looked out my room. Eleanor was just joining Dan and Charlotte in Dan's room.
'Ahem... What are you doing??'
'We're getting books to read in case we wake up in the night and can't sleep.'
'Go to bed!!'
'But I like to read before I go to sleep.'
*Sigh* (I'm too soft) 'Fine ONE book each, now back to the tent! I'll come down in a few minutes to tell you to stop reading.'
And back down to the tent.
Finished in my bathroom. Came downstairs to start sorting out the house. Started sorting out the house. It was basically the living room, dining room and kitchen which needed... attention. Little people had attacked the living room, big people had attacked the dining room and EVERYONE had attacked the kitchen. So I started in the living room, then went through to the dining room, then left the horrible kitchen 'til last.
Somepoint through that, I went through to the tent to get changed and tell them 3 to go to sleep. And I got stuck in some wonderful conversation which I wont traumastise you with. I'm thinking it's about 11 o'clock by now.
Back in the house. Started on the kitchen.
Back to the tent.
'The door is open and I can hear you, you know.'
'Oh.'
'Go to sleep.'
Back in the house.
Back to sorting the kitchen.
I finished about quarter to 12. Went out to the tent. They're asleep!!!!!!!!!!! Fell over. Texted mum and pap essential points (don't go near the table, there's glass, etc). Slept.
(Don't worry, there's more to come...)
